Weekend Book Giveaway: Dare You To

This week's book Dare You To, an exciting new book from Katie McGarry, the author of last year's popular Pushing the Limits:

If anyone knew the truth about Beth Risk's home life, they'd send her mother to jail and seventeen-year-old Beth who knows where. So she protects her mom at all costs. Until the day her uncle swoops in and forces Beth to choose between her mom's freedom and her own happiness. That's how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn't want her and going to a school that doesn't understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn't get her, but does...Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock--with secrets he can't tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn't be less interested in him. But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams--and his life--for the girl he loves, and the girl who won't let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all..

If you want a chance to skip the line (18 people waiting right now!) and get your own copy of this book, tell me about the craziest dare someone has put you up to, and if you went through with it or not.

Winner will be selected with Random Number Generator on Tuesday July 9, 2013. Be sure to leave a name with your entry, and check back to see if you won. To win you must be a teen (6th-12th grade, or 12-18) who uses a Sno-Isle Library.

Two new prize choices for Teen Summer Reading

Hey everybody! Hope your summer is off to a great start. We are already seeing all kinds of terrific book reviews, and have already given away 45 prizes.  Much to my surprise, some of our leftovers from previous years have been more popular than anticipated, and we have already run out of earbuds, and are very low on flashdrives!   We still have lots of LED bookmarks, and iPod/iPhone speakers, but now we are also adding hacky sacks and foldable flying discs!

We still have lots of time for you to read and review...you might be able win one of each. :)

Book Give-Away: The Twice Lost

Sorry about the delay in publishing the weekend's book giveaway!   Today's book, The Twice Lost, is the exciting finale to Sarah Porter's adventure laden trilogy. Will she be able to step up to the task of becoming leader of the Twice Lost Girls? Will the Twice Lost Army triumph? What challenges will they face on their waterlogged adventures? If you want to find out just a little earlier than everyone else let us know.

Mermaids have been sinking ships and drowning humans for centuries, and now the government is determined to put an end to the mermaid problem—by slaughtering all of them. Luce, a mermaid with exceptionally threatening abilities, becomes their number-one target, hunted as she flees down the coast toward San Francisco.

There she finds hundreds of mermaids living in exile under the docks of the bay. These are the Twice Lost: once-human girls lost first when a trauma turned them into mermaids, and lost a second time when they broke mermaid law and were rejected by their tribes. Luce is stunned when they elect her as their leader. But she won’t be their queen. She’ll be their general. And they will become the Twice Lost Army—because this is war.

For a chance to win, tell me about a time that you felt rejected by your tribe (or friends).

Winner will be selected with Random Number Generator on Wednesday June 26, 2013. Be sure to leave a name with your entry, and check back to see if you won. To win you must be a teen (6th-12th grade, or 12-18) who uses a Sno-Isle Library.

Trailer Tuesday: The Kill Order by James Dashner

Last I looked, this Maze Runner prequel had a bit of a waiting list. Pro tip: Check the Teen Best Bets. You might be able to jump the wait list. If you haven't clued into Dashner's series,
The Kill Order is a great place to start:

From the Publisher: "Before WICKED was formed, before the Glade was built, before Thomas entered the Maze, sun flares hit the earth and mankind fell to disease. Mark and Trina were there when it happened, and they survived. But surviving the sun flares was easy compared to what came next. Now a disease of rage and lunacy races across the eastern United States, and there's something suspicious about its origin. Worse yet, it's mutating, and all evidence suggests that it will bring humanity to its knees. Mark and Trina are convinced there's a way to save those left living from descending into madness. And they're determined to find it-- if they can stay alive. Because in this new, devastated world, every life has a price. And to some, you're worth more dead than alive."

Weekend Book Give-Away: The Reluctant Assassin

I've been hearing nothing but great things about this week's book, The Reluctant Assassin by Eoin Colfer, the author of the much loved Artemis Fowl series.

In Victorian London, Albert Garrick, an assassin-for-hire, and his reluctant young apprentice, Riley, are transported via wormhole to modern London, where Riley teams up with a young FBI agent to stop Garrick from returning to his own time and using his newly acquired scientific knowledge and power to change the world forever.
Does that sound awesome or what?
Ok, for your chance to enter a drawing to win and Advanced Readers copy of this exciting new read, tell me when (and where) you would travel to if you could go anywhere in time?
Winner will be selected with Random Number Generator on Tuesday June 18, 2013. Be sure to leave a name with your entry, and check back to see if you won. To win you must be a teen (6th-12th grade, or 12-18) who uses a Sno-Isle Library.

Trailer Tuesday: Seraphina by Rachel Hartman

I confess that Seraphina may well be my favorite fantasy novel of the last couple of years. It's not for the faint of heart - it's robust and complex - but you fantasy fans are rarely intimidated by that. ;)

From the publisher: "Four decades of peace have done little to ease the mistrust between humans and dragons in the kingdom of Goredd. Folding themselves into human shape, dragons attend court as ambassadors, and lend their rational, mathematical minds to universities as scholars and teachers. As the treaty's anniversary draws near, however, tensions are high. Seraphina Dombegh has reason to fear both sides. An unusually gifted musician, she joins the court just as a member of the royal family is murdered--in suspiciously draconian fashion. Seraphina is drawn into the investigation, partnering with the captain of the Queen's Guard, the dangerously perceptive Prince Lucian Kiggs. While they begin to uncover hints of a sinister plot to destroy the peace, Seraphina struggles to protect her own secret, the secret behind her musical gift, one so terrible that its discovery could mean her very life."

Weekend Book Give-Away: Requiem

This week's book, Requiem, is the exciting finale to Lauren Oliver's best-selling Delirium series. Will the rebellion survive? Will the resistance hold? How will the stories of Lena and Hana, living on opposite sides of the struggle, come together in the end? Who will Lena choose? Julian, the boy she saved, or Alex, the boy she thought was dead?

From the publisher: "Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has been transformed. The nascent rebellion that was under way in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight.

After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven—pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators now infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels, and as Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancĂ©e of the young mayor.

Requiem is told from both Lena’s and Hana’s points of view. The two girls live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge."

For a chance to win, tell me about a time that you and your best friend, or fictional best friends, were divided.

Winner will be selected with Random Number Generator on Tuesday June 11, 2013. Be sure to leave a name with your entry, and check back to see if you won. To win you must be a teen (6th-12th grade, or 12-18) who uses a Sno-Isle Library.

Trailer Tuesday: The Tragedy Paper by Elizabeth LaBan

I really enjoyed The Tragedy Paper. I'd recommend it to those who liked both Looking for Alaska and 13 Reasons Why, as it falls somewhere between the two books.

From the publisher: "While preparing for the most dreaded assignment at the prestigious Irving School, the Tragedy Paper, Duncan gets wrapped up in the tragic tale of Tim Macbeth, a former student who had a clandestine relationship with the wrong girl, and his own ill-fated romance with Daisy."
