Miss Representation
I just stumbled across this trailer on a friend's Facebook page. It looks to be a very powerful movie that raises issues we should all consider.
From the YouTube page:
"While women have made strides in leadership over the past few decades, the United States still ranks 90th in the world for women in national legislatures, depression rates have doubled among teenage girls, and cosmetic surgery on minors has more than tripled in the last ten years. "

Harry Potter 7 Part 2
This is just because I'm really excited about it:
Have I mentioned that Lynnwood Library will be having a Harry Potter Party on June 25th? No? Hmm. I should change that. lalala.

Harry Potter in Seattle!
zomg. Maybe I won't need to go to Orlando after all!
Harry Potter: The Exhibition is coming to Seattle. It will be at the Pacific Science Center October 23, 2010-January 30, 2011

From the Pacific Science Center:
"Experience the amazing craftsmanship of more than 200 authentic costumes and props from the Harry Potter films displayed in settings inspired by the films sets - including the Great Hall, Hagrid's hut and the Gryffindor™ common room. While touring through the exhibition space, discover iconic items such as Harry's original wand and eyeglasses, the Marauder's Map, Gryffindor school uniforms as well as costumes worn at the Yule Ball. Enter the Quidditch™ area and toss a Quaffle, pull your own Mandrake in the Herbology vignette, encounter Buckbeak™ the Hippogriff and even a giant Acromantula spider."
Tickets are a little pricey at $26 a pop, but I'm still so there.
via Seattle Times
Hey, let's watch the trailer again!
That IS a good trailer.
So, who's going to go see the exhibition at Pacific Science Center? Who's going to see the movie?
I'm in for both. If you hadn't figured that out... ;)

Chickens and The Girl Next Door
Flipped is one of my all time favorite teen books. It is sweet and funny, and not so much a romance as a book about relationships. It is a great read for both guys and gals, as it is told from the two main characters alternating viewpoints. And now it is being made into a movie! Why didn't anyone tell me?
Ok...I never pictured it taking place in the 1950s, but that looks ok. Not sure about it j
ust being from the guy's point of view, but maybe that is just the preview. And it still has the tree and most importantly the chickens, so yes...I can't wait to see it!
Want to find out more before you decide? Here is the official movie site, and the fan site :)
One more thing...there is already a wait list for the book...but as of this moment all of the books-on-cd of Flipped are on the shelf waiting for you to enjoy them!

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World Trailer
I've been trying to up my graphic novel IQ, so I've been reading a lot of them lately. One of which, I was amused to discover will soon be a rather awesome looking movie. The trailer looks pretty honest to the book it's based on, Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little Life, (the second volume in the series by Bryan Lee O'Malley shares a title with the movie) so I'm excited to see it.
Don't forget, you can read and review teen or adult graphic novels for the Summer Reading Program to win prizes!

Place a hold on your favorite Harry Potter book or movie in anticipation!

Tomorrow, When the War Began movie
Ok, I can't tell you how awesome the book Tomorrow, When the War Began is. Well, not as well as the trailor for the movie can:
I don't see that this has a U.S. release date, so no idea if we are even going to see it here across the Pacific, but here's seriously hoping.
Whether we do or not, take what you just saw there, and translate it into a hold for the first in the Tomorrow Series by John Marsden. That trailer is EXACTLY like what's in the book. At least, it's how I saw it all in my head. I can't tell you if the rest of the movie will live up to it, but I'm loving what I've seen so far. The audio cd version is pretty excellent too.
