Weekend Book Give-Away: Hokey Pokey

Jerry Spinelli is one of my favorite authors.  He has writen so many wonderful books, that are surprising and moving and just great.  I'm really excited about his new book, Hokey Pokey:

Welcome to Hokey Pokey. A place and a time, when childhood is at its best: games to play, bikes to ride, experiences to be had. There are no adults in Hokey Pokey, just kids, and the laws governing Hokey Pokey are simple and finite. But when one of the biggest kids, Jack, has his beloved bike stolen--and by a girl, no less--his entire world, and the world of Hokey Pokey, turns to chaos. Without his bike, Jack feels like everything has started to go wrong. He feels different, not like himself, and he knows something is about to change. And even more troubling he alone hears a faint train whistle. But that's impossible: every kid knows there no trains in Hokey Pokey, only tracks.

For a chance to win an Advanced Readers Copy of this new book, tell me about one of your favorite childhood memories.

Winner will be selected with Random Number Generator on Tuesday February 12, 2013. Be sure to leave a name with your entry, and check back to see if you won. To win you must be a teen (6th-12th grade, or 12-18) who uses a Sno-Isle Library.

One of my favorite childhood memories was when I learned to ride my bike. I made a full circle around our coldasack and then I got ice cream from the ice cream truck. The reason I liked this memory the most is because I got a power puff girl ice cream.

One of my favorite childhood memories is having recess on a very windy day and I felt like a bird because my coat was flying behind me. After school, I ran all the way home with my coat flapping in the wind.

my favorite childhood memory is one time at a sleepover, my friends and I came up with this song called "Taco and Potato Chip". We danced and sang it over and over again. This is how it went:

Taco! I said a Taco!
Taco! I said a Taco!
And a potato chip too!

Why we thought that song was amazing, I don't know, but to us it was.

One of my favorite childhood memories was having a huge easter egg hunt with my 20 cousins on my grandparents estate.
