Birthday Weekend Book Give-Away: Forgotten

It is my birthday this weekend, and order to celebrate it properly I want to give one of our lucky readers a present! This week's book, Forgotten by Cat Patrick, is special. Not only is it only is it one of my favorite books I've read this year, it is also a beautiful signed hardbound I got when I met the author last month!

Sixteen-year-old London Lane forgets everything each night and must use notes to struggle through the day, even to recall her wonderful boyfriend, but she "remembers" future events and as her "flashforwards" become more disturbing she realizes she must learn more about the past lest it destroy her future.

It reminds me of two of my favorite movies, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and 50 First Dates, but with more mystery mixed in.

What do you need to do to win this book? Tell me either about the biggest thing you've ever forgotten (and then later remembered) or the best birthday present you ever got! Winner will be selected on Tuesday July 19, 2011.

Don't forget to check back here to see if you have won!

Up until I turned 11, my sisters and I shared a room. We weren't the best roommates, we'd mess with each other and with each other's stuff. I wasn't quite sure what to make of it when I got a new set of sheets for my birthday that was way too big for my twin mattress, but then I was told to go upstairs. Lo and behold, the guest bedroom had been cleaned and emptied, and I'm living in it to this day!

Happy Birthday =)
Mine's coming up too.

I wanna say that one of my favorite presents was one that I didn't appreciate when I got it. I've always been an avid reader, but I always had to rely on my parents to turn off my light, which would mean they dictated how long I read at night before bed. So one birthday I got a lamp. It was a cool lamp that fixed to my wall and swung outward. I thought it was a stupid present when I got it because I was only in, like, fourth grade, and I couldn't play with a lamp. But I have to say, that now that lamp is an amazing gift that allows me to stay up all night reading...and to allow me to check out my room when my cat has gotten into something.

I've had so many great birthdays and gifts that it was super hard to pick one. I don't really pay as much attention to the gifts themselves as I do to the birthday. The best birthday gifts I have ever gotten were getting my bedroom redone, and an American Girl doll when I was eight years old (that was also one of my most memorable birthday parties). When my parents redid my room for my thirteenth birthday, they did everything! They painted the walls and moved around my furniture, they even made me a reading nook in the storage section of my bunk bed! When I turned eight I knew I was getting the doll because my little sister told me, but it was still exciting to get one,but the best thing about that birthday was the party I had with my other friends!

Last year me and my little sister took the bus home from school. I guess I just forgot what number our bus was (which was easy since we weren't regulars). So I just ushered us on to the first bus in sight. Of course it wasn't the right bus. My cousin's were on the bus as well, but I turned down the offer to help. Three bus tranfers later we ended up at our stop. We ran to the house only to find we were only five minutes late! Five minutes can feel like a lifetime.

From what I remember, the biggest thing I've forgotten is the song I played for my last recital! It had 6 pages, but I only played 2!
My favorite birthday present was the iPod I got a few years ago. At first, I didn't see what was so great about it, but then I started to figure out that I could now listen to music and audio books anywhere without having to worry about whether or not there would be a cd player!

This week's winner is Rachel, because I too love listening to audiobooks on my iPod!

Shoot me an email at teens@sno-isle.org to let me know your full name and library, and I'll send you the book right away!
