Weekend Book Give-Away: Struck

How is your summer going?  Anything exciting going on?  If you are getting the mid-summer duldrums, Struck by Jennifer Bosworth (featured as this week's Tuesday Trailer) could be the book to kick you right out of it.

Mia Price is a lightning addict. She’s survived countless strikes, but her craving to connect to the energy in storms endangers her life and the lives of those around her.  Los Angeles, where lightning rarely strikes, is one of the few places Mia feels safe from her addiction. But when an earthquake devastates the city, her haven is transformed into a minefield of chaos and danger. The beaches become massive tent cities. Downtown is a crumbling wasteland, where a traveling party moves to a different empty building each night, the revelers drawn to the destruction by a force they cannot deny. Two warring cults rise to power, and both see Mia as the key to their opposing doomsday prophecies. They believe she has a connection to the freak electrical storm that caused the quake, and to the far more devastating storm that is yet to come.

Lightning addict?!  A little too thrilling a hobby for me.  I'm assuming none of you do anything that crazy either.  But if you want to win this book, tell me about what sorts of thrills you do seek out for excitement.  No thrill too small!

Winner will be selected with Random Number Generator on Tuesday July 31, 2012. Be sure to leave a name with your entry, and check back to see if you won. To win you must be a teen (6th-12th grade, or 12-18) who uses a Sno-Isle Library.

This book reminds me of my all time favorite book/series - When Lightning Strikes (1-800-Where-R-You Series). Well anyway, my thrill hobby is quite boring, actually! But it's very thrilling for me. It's trilling for me when I go on a scavenging hunt at home for anything. A piece of my families' past, or mine and other objects that I used or found valuable. It's so thrilling when I find small things!

I'm really not a thrill seeker. I mean, I'm always looking for the roller coaster that only goes up, but other than that, I dunno. I guess...I seek the thrill of seeing how weird I can be in front of strangers...no really, hear me out, I super enjoy those awkward moments that make people back away slowly.
I don't know, it's late and I don't really have an answer.

This is kind of a DUH, but I read. I live vicariously through fictional characters... pretend I'm hiding from The Dark Lord or fighting Galbatorix to save Alagaesia. It's pretty sweet :) Especially there's no risk of injury.

(I saw the trailer for this and it looks really cool!)

I'm not too much of a thrill-seeker- in fact, I'm a bit paranoid- but I can relate to Mia on a tinier scale. I know quite a few people with electric fences, and sometimes I like to try to slap my hand against them as fast as I can to see how slowly I can go before they shock me. Dumb thrill, I know, but it's fun.

I rock climb for fun every weekend. That is definetly a thrill I enjoy jumping off the shorter walls when I'm bouldering but my favorite pastime is when I get to the top of a roped wall and my dad lets me down really fast while I kick off the wall. That is quite the thrill. I also LOVE roller coasters, except for the ones that go upside down a lot.
